A. No need of prophylaxis only NSAID
B. Tab clindamycin 600 mg 1 hr prior to surgery
C. Tab amoxycillin 2 g 1 hr prior to surgery
D. B or C
Antibiotic prophylaxis before dental treatment is routinely recommended by orthopaedic surgeons to prevent prosthetic joint infection. Total knee arthroplasties are at risk for hematogenous seeding secondary to procedures that create a transient bacteremia.
A. DCP with eccentric hole
B. Reconstruction plate with central holes and IMF
C. Multiple mini plates
D. Simplification with miniplates
Comminuted mandible fractures are complex injuries that are generally the result of a significant impact on a localized area of the jaw by either a highspeed collision or a high-speed projectile.
Fracture is reduced and simplified with miniplates. The miniplates are located at the superior border on the lateral bony surface and below the mandible’s basal border to achieve an ideal three-dimensional reconstruction.
A. Fill chest with saline and check leak
B. Intercostal block
C. Place drain and suture
D. Proceed with immediate fixation of graft
A. IMF
B. Vigorous mouth opening exercise
C. Sleep not towards graft side
D. Low level laser
Immediate or Early Complications
1) Pleural tears, pneumothorax, and pleuritis
2) Infection
3) Hematoma or seroma formation
4) Injury to the intercostal neurovascular
5) Fracture at the bone–cartilage interface of the CCG
6) Vigorous mouth opening exercise
A. MR
B. ASD
C. MS
D. CABG
Subacute bacterial endocarditis is an infection of the inner lining of the heart and the heart valves. It is very serious because it can cause destruction of the heart tissue.
If the procedures are urgent or involve infected tissue, the antibiotic of choice should be effective against enterococci. Amoxicillin and ampicillin are the drugs of choice; vancomycin can be administered to penicillin-hypersensitive patients.
This is taken 30 minutes to 1 hour before the patient’s dental cleaning or surgical procedure. The antibiotic helps protect the bloodstream and the heart from becoming infected by any bacteria that may be released into the blood during the procedure.
Appropriate antibiotic prophylaxis has a great impact on preventing infection after CABG but duration and selecting appropriate antibiotic is important.
