NEET MDS EXAM

To ace this exam, let's look into the exam in detail and make sure we don't miss anything.WHAT IS NEET?
NEET MDS is a national level ranking exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for entry into MDS courses both at the state and institution level. It is conducted annually, mostly in December in almost 51 test cities all over the country. It is a computer-based test which will be held in a single day and single session only. The exam consists of MCQ type questions and the duration is 3 hours. Questions will be asked in the English language only.ELIGIBILTY
The eligibility criteria for NEET MDS given by NBE are as follows:Candidates should not be younger than 20 years of age.
Candidates should have a BDS degree from a recognized college or university.
Should be registered under Dental Council of India (DCI) or State Dental Council.
Should have completed 12 months of compulsory rotary internship by 31st March of the respective year.
HOW TO APPLY?
To apply for the entrance exam, the aspirants need to register for the exam first. On successful registration, the aspirants will receive a User ID and password, which will also be sent to the candidate’s registered email id and mobile number. The second step is to fill in the details in the NEET MDS Application Form and upload their passport sized photograph & signature. At the time of filling in details in the form, the applicants will also have to choose their choice of city to appear for the examination.The last and final step is to pay the requisite amount of the application fee by Card/ Net Banking. On completion of the last step of the application process, it is advised to take a print out of the filled-in application form with transaction ID printed on it for future reference.

ALTERNATIVE CAREERS FOR A NEET MDS ASPIRANT
ARMY DENTAL CORPS
One of the most desirable career options for dental graduates is to join the Army dental corps. With a great emolument and option to continue post-graduation studies in service, army dental core is surely a great career enhancement. On selection, officers are commissioned into the Short Service Commission (SSC) for a maximum tenure of 14 years. The officers can also apply for the Permanent Commission after 2 years of service as an SSC officer provided that they are less than 30 years of age for a BDS graduate and less than 35 years of age for an MDS graduate and continue in service till retirement.Candidates for Army Dental Core are selected based on marks secured in NEET. Shortlisted candidates are further called to appear for an interview in New Delhi which is followed by a medical examination on qualifying.JR SHIPS
JR ships are similar to internships where one joins a college, on a contractual basis for a duration of 6 months to one year. There are rotary clinical postings during which one gains hands-on clinical experience. . Only graduates who have completed their internship on or before 2 years from the date of vacancy notification is eligible to apply. The selection process varies depending on the institution. For example, AIIMS and PGIMER take junior residents based on the INI CET Rank list. Whereas, some other colleges select candidates based on both written exam and interview. JR Ships are also known as senior internship are a great way to gain clinical experience. One can apply online through the respective website of colleges offering JR ship. NEET preparation is very helpful for JR ship, as the syllabus and pattern of examination are very similar for both. Other than that JR ship offers a pay scale of level 10 of the central government.STATE PSC POSTS
Various state governments conduct state PSC exam for the recruitment of registered medical practitioner, for which you need to pass the state PSC exam to work as a government doctor in any government hospital of the state. The exam is conducted based on the requirement and the mode of examination is completely offline.
NRHM POSTS
Under National Rural Health Mission, Dental surgeon and Dental Assistants are appointed on a contractual basis. These posts are established primarily in sub-district hospitals and primary health centres across the state. For the recruitment into an NRHM post, apply online on their official website and a recruitment examination or an individual interview is conducted based on the number of applicants.TUTOR POSTS AT GOVT DENTAL COLLEGE
As a qualified dental surgeon, you are fully eligible to join as teaching staff in state and central government dental colleges. Both BDS and MDS graduates can join as staff on a contractual basis.
